CLEO Shop-a-thon Workshop @ the Heerens

I am an avid reader of CLEO as there is always interesting articles to read and they always bring us hot news about the latest cosmetics and skincare products that’s out on the market.

Not forgetting that they always hold lovely makeup or skin care workshops for us readers to attend. There are always events to keep us engaged and to increase our love with CLEO.

Cheers to the hardworking folks behind this entertaining magazine.

Last month, CLEO in collaboration with Heerens came out with a fabulous shopping extravagant event.

The lovely pink tag for the workshop, pink is SO the new black.

It’s the Shop-a-thon @ the Heerens, it is a 16 day shopping event with a series of workshops to attend and there is even tempting discounts for the pocket conscious fashionista out there.

There are actually 5 workshops that are available to attend,
  • Recreate Japan’s trendiest hairstyles.
  • Update your wardrobe for workplace.
  • Learn the tricks to flawless skin
  • Get a svelte, fit body.
  • Flaunt stunning makeup looks.

I was really glad when I was selected for the: Learn the tricks to flawless skin workshop. It was a makeup demonstration in collaboration with the experts from Inuovi Professionals.

The theme of the workshop was, to achieve a dazzling look that is as dazzling as the Korean celebrities and idols.

More about Inuovi Professionals,

The workshop was held on a Saturday and if you girls did not realize, poor me do work half day on Saturdays. After a tiring time at work, I rushed down to orchard for some retail therapy to brighten my gloomy day.

I had a yummy lunch at a western restaurant, followed by going to Kinokuniya at Takashimaya for my Japanese magazine fix and Watsons to get my hands on the Hello Kitty mascara from Maybelline.

Even after wasting so much time, I was still surprised that I was the earliest and the first to reach for the workshop. Thus I went into ALT to continue my shopping spree.

I really love ALT as they have a wide range of products to choose from and their prices are pocket friendly as well. Not forgetting that they too have a good range of Japanese beauty and haircare products that you can’t get in other stores.

ALT is surprisingly not crowded at all and I can take my own sweet time to browse around and try their testers before committing myself. They always have something in store that will catch my attention.

Girls, try going to ALT for all your cosmetics, skin care and hair care fix, and you will be surprised on the range of products there.

Getting back to the Inuovi Professionals workshop,

The workshop was conducted by a pretty lady makeup artist in black from the Inuovi Professionals.

It started out by understanding the characteristics of the makeup styles that the Korean celebrities favour.

They are none other than,
  • Natural looking makeup with muted hues.
  • Accentuating only their sole most prominent features.
  • Prefer thick strong brows as it represents youthfulness.
  • Their makeup always tells something about their inner personal character.

After a short chat with the attendees, she proceed on to prep up the face of the model for the day.

Doing the eye makeup to accentuate the model's beautiful eyes.

What I learn from the workshop,
Makeup is not to cover your flaws, it like an extension from skincare.

Use lesser makeup and focus more on skincare as healthier skin results in more beautiful makeup outcome. It helps makeup to adhere better as well.

With healthier skin, there is lesser makeup products to buy thus it helps to save money too.

Sun block is very important. Higher SPF means longer protection from the sun and PA represents the level of protection from the sun.

Buy the correct foundation tone by testing it on the jaw line as it helps to determine whether it will match your face and neck to give a uniform look.

Do not use all fingers to apply your makeup as you will exert too much pressure on your face.

Apply makeup in a downwards motion as hair follicles are facing downwards as well.

For cleansing, use an upward motion to remove dirt and oil faster from the pores.

Shimmer and glitter eye shadows help to revitalize tired looking eyes.

Light coloured eye shadows help to brighten the eyes.

Dark coloured eye shadows give depth and a dramatic effect to your look.

A few moments later,

TADAH~ Look at the sweet and natural looking makeup that the model is donning.

The lovely goodies bag for the event. Highlights: A sample of the PUPA Multiplay Eyeliner.

The CLEO Shop-a-thon's special freebies that come with the subscription of the magazine.

My thoughts on the workshop by Inuovi Professionals,
I personally really enjoyed the workshop as the makeup artist from Inuovi Professionals for the demonstration is very knowledgeable. She was also clear in her speech and it was easy to understand as well.

The session was also very interactive with the: question and answer sessions.

The demonstration is on a quick, natural everyday makeup look that I felt is not over the top and is pleasant to the eyes.

I too love the fact that it's not really time consuming and that most of us present are able to achieve and put it to good use.

Many thanks to the lovelies at Cleo and Inuovi Professionals for giving me a fabulous day.

Till next time ^_^
